Forum - General: General Discussion - Year end chart question

Anyone know when the first official year end chart was compiled and published for Australia and the UK? I was listening to a uk top 40 of the year from 1964 and i have yet to find any year end charts from that era and it made me wondered if they were even compiled back then.
Australia's has been compiled by David Kent for his series of chart books, which start back in 1940, while the UK had their first chart from late 1952, so I suppose everything since 1953 for them would've been compiled already.
