Not enough effort from most of the artists involved, but other than that, decent charity single.

I get the same care and emotion watching paint dry although Chris Martin was the highlight. Couldn't give a stuff about anyone else or the lyrics.
****
Better than BA20, and Sinead kills it. Chris Martin and Bono need to rack off though.
**
Not a fan of the lyric amendments (I mean yes they're more relevant but that's why I like the original and generally despise the remakes) - and yes I agree with the sentiment re Bono. I know this is nothing to do with the music, but I really don't like Bob Geldof.

Ok enough, however nothing can top that classic 1984 version and line up of true international Brit stars.

6 weeks in the UK top 100.

UK#1 (1 week).
Ireland#1 (3 weeks).

European Hot 100#3.

1 week Canadian top 10. Canada#8.
US#63.

493,000 copies sold in the UK.

I do like this but don't like how they changed the lyrics.

Very surprised about Sinead O'Connor being in it but Bretticus says it all, she kills it. So does Rita Ora.

These things never work for me but it's fine enough I suppose.

As so often with these singles, the message is lovely but the execution is way off. While I've always liked the main 'feed the world' hook in this song, that alone doesn't detract from the really messy production. 2.5

While I like the idea behind these Band Aid songs, I'm sick of hearing them all the time.

As you can tell from my above comment, I don't particularly care for it.

2.5*.

Will Bob Geldof ever stop milking this song? Each rendition is worse than the previous one. Yeah, I know it's for charity but I hate how he always butchers the original. Stop it already!

Unfortunately the magic is struggling to shine through on this version. I didn't like the lyrical changes. The cohesion is noticeably poor too. Hopefully this is the last of the revivals and they go with a completely different song for whatever is the next project.
Certainly for a good cause however.

The lyrics are just as creepy and depressing as ever.

De originele song vond ik stukken beter dan de deze, maar het goede doel is natuurlijk het belangrijkste

I love Rita Ora's vocals here and some of the other artists provide good performances which is definitely a lot better than the Band Aid 20 version in that regard. Some over the top and crappy vocals as expected though which drag it down. All the issues I have with the original and similar group songs like this apply here, it's just really dreary, over the top and tiring to listen to. Not to say that it's necessarily bad but it doesn't do much for me and it would be nice if they finally stopped creating new versions of this and just go for something new next time.

As a side note, one of the redeeming things about this is that it gave Rita Ora an ARIA top 3 hit. Also amusing that along with "Blank Space" and "Ah Yeah So What", this was one of three tracks in the top 5 that weren't on Spotify and other streaming services included in the chart the week that ARIA introduced streaming into the singles chart :P
