Really solid return for Foster The People, with a number of highlights that show a great progression from 'Torches'. 4.25
*****
I 100% agree with the above statement from Irelander. Foster The People's sophomore album 'Supermodel' has certainly matured in sound, and the songwriting is of a consistent level as compared to its predecessor.

Again, with their sound, Foster The People have moved from the predominately indie-pop sound they are famous for to a more alternative and soft rock sound, all whilst still incorporating a few of their trademark indie-pop numbers. The album starts of strong and continues its consistency throughout the middle, but unfortunately that dies down a bit towards the end.

Overall, this is a great album, and I highly recommend this to many people, particulartly those interested in indie-pop. There is still a bit of work for them to do to mature further, but they have improved (but there are still some tracks on 'Torches' which are better that most of the tracks on this album) as a whole, and I hope they become bigger with the LP. My favourites from the album (highlights) include Coming Of Age, Nevermind, Pseudologia Fantastica, Best Friend, and The Truth.

Ratings:
1. Are You What You Want To Be? 4.6*
2. A solid return, but for me it's not as enjoyable as I found Torches. I haven't fallen in love with any of the songs so far, and it's rather difficult to pick a standout though I plump for Best Friend. All the songs are good at least.

Now if the whole album was like track 11, it would probably be one of my favourite albums of all time. While I'm used to the quirkiness that they often present (and like it from time to time, particularly with Coming of Age and of course Pumped Up Kicks), I was generally surprised by the depth and the strength of their downtempo stuff towards the end of the album. The rest of it was a bit middling for me, with some very irritating efforts (Best Friend for one really gets on my nerves), and some odd lyrics but, all up, this was a nice listen. 4.1/6
