Great haunting cover of an already memorable song. UK#1 and Ireland#20.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it's boring/dull hurr durr cos its a ballard wow am so intelligible, but it doesn't really engage me all that much. Can't fault the vocals though, very strong. 3.5

leh upgradin

Nice track. It reminds me of Kelly Clarkson's 'Already Gone'.

Frankie Goes To Hollywood's original version of "The Power of Love" had the perfect blend of emotion and making it fit around the Christmas market at it's time of release, without making it sound too depressing. Unfortunately for Gabrielle Aplin, she done the exact opposite in my opinion. I feel that Gabrielle has added absolutely nothing to the song to make it even stand it out and that's what surprises me most about it's success. It's just an overall very boring and generic song and I hate that it ever got to #1 in the UK. With the amount of awful songs that have reached the top of the charts here in the UK, I can honestly say I can see absolutely no logic behind people rushing out to buy this song in their thousands and it's definitely got my vote for the worst UK number one single of all time!

I feel like I should like it more than I do, but while the vocals are good, I just don't find this engaging and feel that it goes absolutely nowhere.

Decent.

EDIT: Ended up boring me more than anything else in the end.

3* -> 2*.

I'm surprised I didn't review this earlier! Anyhow, despite my initial reservations prior to hearing it, I think she provides something of worth. Admittedly it's mainly because I really like her voice, but the whole thing is quite spooky.

Also as a bonus, this has helped assure that I can finally remember how all three of Frankie Goes To Hollywood's big hits go, so hurrah!

This is a solid cover of a great song. I like the vocals and the piano and other arrangements later in the song. This doesn't match the original but it is a great version overall. 4.5*

Decent but boring at times.

Amazing cover, although I didn’t make the Frankie connection until much later as I didn’t know it was a cover initially. Helped she already had a fan base here because she had supported Ed Sheeran about 12 months previously.

As stated above it is a gorgeous track but without promotion I agree it would've been missed by the masses.

Peaked at #4 on my personal chart.

I hate the name of this track but it's decent enough.

It's quite sweet. I don't mind it.
