***** Wohl insgesamt das stärkste INXS-Album, aber für die Höchstnote müsste das Album ohne Fehl und Tadel sein. Davon kann keine Rede sein! "The Loved One", "Wild Life", "Mystify", "Kick", "Calling All Nations" und "Tiny Daggers" sind lediglich ordentliche Album-Tracks (obwohl "Mystify" unerklärlicherweise als letzte Single ausgekoppelt wurde) und allenfalls gehobener Durchschnitt. Dem gegenüber stehen natürlich der gelungene, rockige Opener "Guns In The Sky", das fetzige "New Sensation", das vor allem in den Strophen zu überzeugen weiss, das nette "Devil Inside", die geniale, nahtlos ineinander übergehende Doppelpackung "Need You Tonight/Mediate" und das schlichtweg phänomenale "Never Tear Us Apart". Reicht für eine knappe 5.
**** Ich hatte mir mehr erwartet! <br>Zum einen sind da wahrlich richtige Kracher/Superhits drauf, aber doch auch etliche Füller, deshalb nur 4 Sterne: die Hälfte der Songs verdient 5-6, die andere leider nur 2-3. Naja, vielleicht editier ich das nochmel irgendwann.
***** Da bin ich geteilter Meinung. Auf keinen Fall die Bestnote da doch einige Füller drauf sind imho. Höhepunkte für mich: "Never Tear Us Apart", "Mystify" und "Tiny Daggers". Ganz knappe 5*.
***** Jeder Song auf diesem Album rockt. "Guns In The Sky" ist das ideale Intro für dieses Album. "Need You Tonight" ist der wahrscheinlich bekannteste Titel der Gruppe INXS, aber mein persönlicher Favorit ist dann der darauffolgende Track namens "Mediate". Auch die Ballade "Never Tear Us Apart" weiss zu überzeugen. Ein paar der Songs sind dennoch mehr Albumfüller als hitverdächtig.

***** Whether or not this is INXS's finest hour is one to be debated. It does seem to be the definitive one if anything though. Commercial success is somewhat of a major factor to this; impressively the first 4 singles all went top 10 in the US. But at the same time, there's a level of accessibility to this that makes it more approachable. They could perhaps be accused of having a bit much filler at times, and it's true here too, but it's not as detrimental to the final product in this case.<br><br>The album is of course buoyed by the hit singles which have become well amongst the most recognised in INXS's catalogue. Really it's hard to say no to the album that houses "Never Tear Us Apart", "Need You Tonight", "Devil Inside" and "New Sensation". It was the first album of theirs I ever was exposed to from front to back, so I do have some bias, but this would be an obvious starting point for going into their discography. ****** This is the big one...the group's tour de force...everything in the bands catalogue is measured up to this album. It is sheer 80's pop brilliance, near perfect song writing, musicianship, production...everything...the stars aligned for this one.<br><br>The entire album is catchy, memorable and branded with indelible hooks. Songs such as "New Sensation", "Never Tear Us Apart", "Devil Inside" "Need You Tonight" and "Mystify" are so deeply ingrained in our consciousness that sometimes we forget how brilliant they are. Even their remake of their own cover "The Loved Ones" stands up with the original 60's track. <br><br>This outing also displayed the groups diversity in musical styles; shifting through pop/rock, rock & roll, funk, dance-pop and dance-rock with undeniable ease, as if it was second nature too them.<br><br>And on a lesser note, this was a commercial smash hit worldwide....and sent the group into the stratosphere of fame and fortune, massive stadium gigs and eventually self indulgence.<br><br>Without doubt this is INXS' opus, they would never again re-capture the dizzying heights that this album reached musically. **** A lot believe this is their holy grail in terms of albums but to me it falls pretty short of the expectations it's got after the amazing peak that is 'Never Tear Us Apart.<br>Production wise it's a masterpiece of Australian rock/pop and will ultimately be remembered as INXS at their best.<br><br>51/72
***** It's fair to say that this is one of the most popular and well-known Australian albums of all time. Featuring some of their biggest hits, 'Kick' also contains a number of more obscure tracks that I'm not so familiar with surprisingly. Nothing here below par though and it's really great overall. 4.5

**** I enjoyed this quite a bit. This contains most of INXS's most iconic and enjoyable tracks and it's easy to see why this was such a big hit. Need You Tonight and New Sensation are both fantastic pop/rock tracks, while Never Tear Us Apart is a soaring ballad and my favourite of their singles. There are a couple of duds on the album, but I liked the majority of it and found it to be a nice, easy listen. 4.1/6.

***** Hier stechen 5 Singles heraus, die alle überragend sind: New Sensation, Devil Inside, Need You Tonight, Never Tear Us Apart und Mystify.<br><br>Zu diesem Album gibt es eine Podcast-Folge "SWR1 Meilensteine - Alben, die Geschichte machten", in der man interessante Infos und die Meinungen der Redaktion zu diesem Album bekommt.<br><br>1977 startet die Band zunächst mit dem Namen "Farriss Brothers", ab 1979 nennen sie sich INXS. In Australien gelten sie als ausgezeichnete Live-Band, spielen in sogenannten Pub Gigs in Kneipen. 1982 schaffen sie es mit der Single "The One Thing" dank MTV in die US-Top 30 und spielen als Vorband von .<br>Mit "Kick" hatten sich INXS vorgenommen, international durchzustarten mit einer Mischung aus Rock, Funk und Soul und einem Album, auf dem jeder Song eine Hitsingle hätte sein können - am Ende waren es fünf an der Zahl - der größte Hit, "Need You Tonight" erreichte in den USA Platz 1 der Single-Charts.<br>Das Geheimnis: Funk, verwoben mit Rock<br><br>Dabei weigert sich das Plattenlabel Atlantic Records zunächst, die Platte, die in Sydney und Paris aufgenommen wird, zu veröffentlichen. Ein Erfolsgeheimnis von INXS ist, dass sie Funk mit Rock verweben und so einen treibenden Groove generieren.
