This is soooo good.
***
Already better then the already decent Hold Back The River. 3.2.
****
Nice song.
****
Not quite as melodically strong as 'Hold Back The River' but it certainly has some powerful moments. 3.75

Very comfortably behind "Hold Back The River" for me.

Whenever this starts playing on the radio, I keep confusing it with Vance Joy's "Georgia" and vice-versa during the intro. My opinions of these two songs are almost identical as they are just so similar in that they are pleasant and all, but just don't really go anywhere.
****
Behind the exceptional 'Hold Back the River' but it is so good to see this go top 10. Solid track!

It is evil and must be stopped!

I dunno I just don't feel anything from it. He takes one concept, stretches it to a whole song, but avoids any interesting wordplay, metaphor, or really any fresh take on the thing. And then instrumentally it's pretty stripped back which would be ok if he did anything particularly interesting there either. The slow bridge just seems tailor made for a TV drama preview, where it skips right to that part when the conflict is paused and the main guy is looking towards the camera in a moment of sudden realisation of what's gone wrong. It's been cringe city ever since I started noticing songs doing this.

Just Ben Howard without the discernible talent or ambition really, or maybe that'll come on his second album.
****
I thought this was Ed Sheeran's follow up to Thinking Out Loud.
*****
Not as good as HBTR, the chorus is good but the verses lack any fire.

I don't mind it but it does little to make me interested. It's way too bare musically while his vocals aren't very engaging either and make it sound like a Script song. Not really a compliment. The guitar grabs me but it's not that different to the one in "Hold Back The River" so I'd much rather listen to that which does a much better job at being interesting, among other things. Fine as background music but anything more and I'm just waiting for it to end by about a minute in.
****
It's not too bad I suppose, but has a typical 'singer/songwriter' vibe about it.
***
I really like the production off this track, it's full and on point. I'm loving the beat to the fullest. Speaking of fullest I give this song my fullest support. I'm glad I'm getting to enjoy it on radio, too. The writer was smart in it's lyrics. and the fun came across for me at least, in the way I like to hear my music, fun and light.
****
Another great song from him and memorable. UK#10 and Ireland#21. US#16.

Pretty average for a mega hit that it was.
