**** Probably the biggest contrast between the old Kanye and the new Kanye can be found in this song. Considering that he first found his fame through tapping a pretty relatable voice in the hedonistic bling era of rap, it's so striking to hear him admit that he could manifest his bipolar thoughts into something that people could relate to, but ultimately declines it.

There's a lot of discussion about whether the 'you' in this song refers to his wife or his psyche, and I'm not convinced Kanye knows either, because leaving things deliberately ambiguous is just so Kanye. Even he's been sharing memes around it on Twitter so that might show how seriously he takes it (or he's just on his bipolar shit, that's why we f**k with ye).

As a listener though, I find that confession in the first half to be a really fascinating look into the writing process, as well as the complicated thought process of Kanye. I wish there was more stuff as revealing as this on the album.

Oh and the more conventional second half of the song is pretty pleasing too. |
