Show all languages | **** Gefällt mir jetzt glatt besser als HUMBLE zuvor - das Background funky-geheimnisvoll, der Flow fließt - DNA ist eine Sache, die andere ist, was man lernt - oder nicht. |
Gute 3. |

| ***** This continues to grow on me with every listen. Perhaps a slight lull after what I believe is the second verse, but that last minute is just a new level of intensity. 5.25 |
| ***** When the beat switches 😍 🔥 |
| * Furchtbar... |
| ** Ungenießbarer HipHop-Track. |
| ** ...weniger... |
| ***** Richtig hotter Rap-Song. Nicht für Rap-Haters! |
| ****** Definitely up there with 'Humble.' as one of the highlights on DAMN.

Such an amazing hip-hop track, and that's before the H.A.M. beat switch! |
| *** It randomly goes wild which is a bit of a distraction. Not really my thing but can see why it's popular and the rap in the first half is really good. |
| ****** There's a certain kind of habit to question people whose priorities are perhaps unintentionally made to look like they're misplaced. For one, there's the certain set of white music fan who will go out of their way to express their utter disgust at anything whose origins don't cross through their own culture. The implication probably doesn't cross their mind but as soon as they're called out on it, they'll be disgusted, furthering the hole as they seem more disgusted at the idea of being conflated with racial prejudice, than they are at the idea of racial prejudice existing.

This song includes an section of audio from a FOX news presenter who, upon reading lyrics from Kendrick Lamar's song of communal unity, "Alright", reaches out with the ultimate logical extreme of buck passing that hip hop causes more damage to African-American youths than racism. Obviously what he's saying is that there would be less racial divide if the music wasn't being made, forcing extremely white people to cower behind ascii art acting as if they're superior when really they're just a racist piece of shit.

Fortunately, this is a song for celebrating heritage. The entire verse glorifying all that comes together in one's DNA to make the powerful person that they are. And then the second verse completely retaliating against those who would dare question it. The whole song is an absolute hit of adrenaline. I don't often listen to "BLOOD." but if I do, it's because it makes for a powerful whiplash in transition that listening to "DNA." on its own can't quite muster.

Internal rhymes for days, the middle beat switch remains exhilerating, and the song is absolutely one of the finest of 2017. Such is its potency that it landed near the middle of Billboard's 2017 year end chart without radio airplay, without a chorus, and without the sort of friendly vibe to slot into playlists. You can't convince me otherwise. |
