Personally I'm still amazed at how quickly this became big. I mean, considering where they were at that point, consistently charting in the top 25 without much mainstream radio play in Australia is actually rather astounding. What's interesting in this is that the instruments really convey mood moreso than the vocals and lyrics, and it rarely meanders at one pace.

I totally got swept up in the hype but I still love it.

A really good song, nice to see something a bit different doing so well in the charts without it being crap.
******
will it be number 1 on triple J thats the question
******
Great song, unfortunate that everyone loves it for the curse.
**
Really average.
*****
Very good. A lot different to what we have today which is good.
******

Great song, but I still think the title is random

"It's a very personal story" admitted singer Marcus Mumford. "Suffice to say, it was a situation in my life when i wasn't very proud of. It grabs you by the balls - it represents the harder, darker side of what we do, and at the same time the more folksy, punchy side"

Peaked at #6 on my personal chart.

Came in at #53 on my TOP 200 OF 2009.

Came in at #142 on my TOP 200 OF 2010.

Great song. A little bit quirky.

Was my #19 of 2009.

Liked this track a lot at the time, but it's one song you just can't escape from. It gets on my nerves a little bit now because I hear it every Wednesday night before pub quiz. A shame because it's a decent track and the critics just LOVE it.

Overplayed on channel v, just a 3 .

An occasional listen is semi-decent, but usually I get rather annoyed at it. Not a fan of the swearing in it either.
****
Gets a higher score as a result of familiarity due to its success. Not usually my preferred style of song.
**
Can't stand it.

I'd rather be raped with a baseball bat covered in barbed wire than hear this song!
**
Overrated and I can't believe the chart run and the success it had.
*****
Great sounding track from Mumford & Sons, but better without the swear. The swear puts it down 1*.

It's okay I suppose, easy to see why it's so loved but not one I've ever been a huge fan of. Kinda interesting but also a bit too bland and the f bomb does sound a bit forced to me. Also the vocals get grating after a while. Amazing chart run though I have to admit.

Great song but most people love it because of the curse.

4 stars

Don't like it; don't get the fuss.
*****
Great vocal harmonies, and awesome clarity of all instruments. Swearing seems a bit unnecessary though.

#14 in JJJ Hottest 100 20 years.
