Yes...it really smells like teen spirit. One of the best songs in 90's! What a rifle! I am not a grunge fan but I love this song.

Another one of those songs regurded by most critics as one of the best of all time. I acknowledge those sentiments but to me it's over played & there are other Nirvana songs that are better. It does have a timeless feel to it even to this day & for generations to come.

Topped my personal chart for four weeks.

Came in at #45 on my ULTIMATE TOP 100 OF 1991.

P = 219

Classic.

Good but it is quite overrated for me. It is still one of those songs that will never be forgotten though.

AWESOME SONG!

Has to be one of the best 90's songs, or one of the best rock songs ever! Brilliant from start to finish, and never gets old.

classic if slightly overrated
******
I don't mind if it's overrated at all, it is what it is, and it's freaking fantastic!
******
Wicked rock track.
******
Outstanding song! Not my favourite of theirs, but close to.
****
pretty good, not really my thing though, so 4* is VERY good, especially for the genre
***
I understand its role in a new sound revolution, but I find it ridiculously overated. Bordering on 2*. Perhaps if I was a few years older to appreciate it when it first came out it would rate higher.
*****
cool song. very cool

A classic like no other Grunge track!
******
Is infact a great song.

I hated this song when it was charting. It just wasn't my thing. Over time I have come to tolerate it and have lost my irrational hate for it. However, I don't think it's as awesome as critics like to make it out to be and often wonder if Kurt was still alive would this song have been elevated to the iconic status it has.
****
Good, but this song never massively excited me. Not a big fan of grunge, but this song proves grunge can sometimes be catchy.

greatful song

The overall composition of this track is brilliant. The constant use of drums and guitar riffs tie in nicely with Cobain’s husky vocals. I still think this holds up well today even.

Is it iconic? Absolutely. Do I like this? Yes, but I actually think they had better songs than this. But BillyBrett makes a good point, would Nirvana be as big as they are now if Kurt Cobain wasn’t dead?

Really cool and will never be forgotten.

For a song that is considered such a classic I find it hard to remember much about it, except for the fact it is supposedly such an awesome song ::) :P

Personally find it nothing special at all and at times it's quite boring. Also as I said above it's not very memorable to me and the only parts I can remember about it 30 minutes after listening to it are parts that have been sampled in other songs. I loathe the last 30 seconds and it's nearly enough to make me want to give this a 2.

Like D Man I can understand its importance in popularising grunge / alternative rock, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give it a higher rating.

Timeless 90's grunge classic. Only OK to me though.
EDIT: I have never hated this track in the past, I always thought of it as at least OK but it wasn't something I actually like. However in hindsight I can now appreciate it's revolutionary status to the point that I can actually get into it a bit more then I ever did before. A good track and is indeed worthy of it's iconic classic status.

*****
The best song of all time? I disagree. It definitely made its profound footprint in history, but there have been plenty more fish in this sea of musical breakthroughs.
*****
The lyrics are all nonsense to me and a bit stupid, but the sound of it is enough for me to compensate for it, plus more.
******
They do have better and this song is maybe a little overrated... but who the hell cares? It's a classic and represents the grunge era.
******
The greatest song of the 90's. It changed the music landscape in the early 90's & I think only one other song changed the music landscape again in the 90's & talk about from one extreme to the other but in 1999 Baby One More Time. Nope I'm not kidding...bet nobody ever thought you could mention Smells Like Teen Spirit in the same comment but I just did.
*
Never understood this song's popularity (or the band, for that matter). The vocals are dreadful, the sound is old (even for that era), the melody is dull, and it's aged a TON. It surprises me that 1. This song is so popular; and 2. This is their breakthrough song.

All in all, adds up for an excruciatingly painful listen; I still change the radio when it comes on so my ears don't bleed.
**
Not my cup of tea

Fijne rockplaat welke werd gevolgd door een paar nog betere singles.
